Robbery in the muni

Did not stay here but several pilgrims on the route out of O’Cebreiro reported their cash stolen overnight/into this morning.

This bed will work after a long long

My stay here was comfortable and great value after a strenous day. True, many pilgrims in one dorm, so here your ear plugs will be appreciated once again. Some amenities for washing by hand missing. Would happily sleep here again.

Bad place

One of the worst albergue on the camino. Far too many beds per room, much things brooken. Was not a good place at all

16. July 2025 - 15:59

No welcome

First expected me to leave my pack outside in the rain for half an hour whilst waiting to open.
The in-hospitaliero became sarcastic when I asked if I might wait inside out of the rain.
O Cebeiro has become such a destination for people that the pilgrim vibe doesn't exist anymore.
The whole village feels like a well oiled money making machine.
I will walk through in future and leave it to the tourists.

Very municipal

Seriously is there a national shortage of shower curtains? They even have the rails! Really strange omission to not have fixed in several years. Otherwise fine, though the room is enormous and tight packed.

18. June 2025 - 16:00

Better than expected

I was grateful being given a bed rather than a bunk. The dorm was large and spacious and fulfilled all needs of a pilgrim. The kitchen had some utensils, the stove top worked and there was a microwave and fridge. The shower stalls didn’t bother me not having a door. €10 is adequate for a Xunta. It is right next to the complementary way which it seemed most people didn’t realise; and so they went down via the road!

21. May 2025 - 18:13

No curtains on the shower stalls?

For whatever reason, the shower stalls have no curtains on them. There are two banks of showers that face each other, so there's a chance you'll just be in full view of whoever is showering opposite of you. Not the end of the world but just a heads up.

$10 Euro

It’s $10 Euro to stay here. I am pleased to have a bargain for a bed after this hike today!

27. August 2024 - 13:51

Basic but (more or less) reliable.

I was nearing the end of my 1,225km hike from Gibraltar and was grateful just to get a bed in this huge albergue. I'd been averaging 35km/day since I set out from Gibraltar and could have slept sounfly on a bed of nails. It's not great but it delivers what it promises... at minimal cost.

Theft

Met 4 people who had just money stolen from them in the middle of the night.

Their money belts were close to them or in their backpacks,… not on them.

The thieves went into their bags and wallets, took only cash, zipped up their bags and left.

They reported to be disturbed and partially wake up around 2am, but rolled over and went back to sleep.

29. July 2024 - 21:29

STEALING!!!

Some People have been robbed in This albergue in the Night while sleeping. The Doors are NOT locked. We have talked to someone in the next town and they Said it had happend before in This albergue. So be careful and sleep with your money close to you. It was 4 people and over 350€. And over 2 nights

29. May 2024 - 17:07

No blankets

This alburgue has no blankets and no shower doors. It is clean and there are single beds and bunks available

29. September 2023 - 19:11

Oops

There is a little grocery store. My bad

29. September 2023 - 17:20

No complaints

No need for curtains in the showers as they are shower stalls, place is nice and bright. Lots of clothes lines. Located in the most amazing location! 10 E for bed. Son says kitchen still has no dishes but there’s no where to buy groceries in town anyway so doesn’t really matter. Each bed has its own light and at the bottom of the light is a plug place for USB. Bunks are a little too low for comfortable sitting under.

SADLY THE WORST MUNICIPAL OF CAMINO

There can be no doubt about it that this is the most souless, worst designed hostel on the Camino. The architect had obviously never been to or stayed in one before!! They make you climb the stairs to register, then walk down to the basement to remove your shoes, then back up 2 flights tp rooms, then down to the basement to shower. If that's not bad enough, the showers have no curtains or doors, no temp guage & are absolutely freezing until you keep the button pressed for ages. Avoid unless last resort.

21. May 2023 - 18:34

Ummmm

Its clean, check in was quick. Once checked in the staff will not acknowledge you. I saw four people asking about wifi and they just shooed them away with their hands (there is wifi its just a registration process). Nice kitchen but useless as there is nothing at all to cook or eat with.

16. May 2023 - 21:48

Is it open???

Phone number doesn’t work just want to make sure it’s open!!

29. November 2022 - 18:32

Still no utensils

For some reason only the first line of my review yesterday uploaded. No need to book at the moment lots of space. 8 euros currently. Showers still don't have doors. Kitchen is great but literally no crockery mugs etc !

28. November 2022 - 20:09

Stayed 28th November 2022

Did not book, plenty of room at this time of year.

Still very poor regarding crockery or utensils in the kitchen.

Still no doors on showers.

Apart from that lovely and clean, friendly staff, yes lots of bunks but I guess at certain times of the year they will need to cater for alot of pilgrims. Ive been in private alberges with less space between bunks. Thumbs up from me. Currently 8 euros.

20. August 2020 - 15:49

This is open but needs to be

This is open but needs to be booked at this website https://alberguesxacobeo.gal/
No doors on shower cubicles but the great temperature and water pressure makes up for it. Very clean and COVID safe
