Had a great stay!

Municipal albergue. Bunks each with light and power. Run by Belgium volunteers that were outstanding. They had medical items for blisters. New kitchen. 8 euros to stay. Nothing fancy but clean and in good shape. Laundry available by machine or hand. Carlos does massages for 30 euros. My wife said he was outstanding. Lockers look nice but not usable since they all have the same combination. Short walk to restaurants in town. Not sure why, but one of the more memorable stays on our Camino, I really liked it. I am 66 years old.

Be careful

I stayed there in late September and thought it was a great alburgue. While I was getting my bed ready there was a man sitting at the end of the bunk. Didn’t realize it at the time but he was not a peregrino. Because it was a municipal it is difficult for the hospilateros to keep anyone from entering. This individual went through my backpack during the night and took all my euros. My fault for being careless. Make sure you keep your valuables under your pillow.

Currently only has half capacity

FYI - the albergue has two buildings and one of them is currently being renovated which means the listed capacity of 70 beds is currently only half of that. Not sure how long the construction will take but keep it in mind if you are planning on staying here over the next few weeks.

Good private bathrooms

I really appreciated having a private bathroom where I could shower and then change without having to do so in the shower stall. You can find these bathrooms where you check in.

A decent Auberge

The rooms were more crowded than some of the other auberges and the women’s bathroom had two showers facing each other so you weren’t completely private and people could open the door to the outside because the toilet was just out the front of the shower areas but there were two totally private showers downstairs so I just used one of those. It had a proper kitchen you could cook in and a separate dining area as well as plenty of spaces to sit together outside. It was quite a good Albergue and was right on the Camino. This is the one day I started walking before dawn and I had no problems.

Lacking basic hygene

No hand soap available in bathrooms, plenty of sick pilgrims around and illness tore through everyone in the days following. If you don’t make point of contact hand hygiene available no one will do it and illness will spread.
Kitchen was very dirty and didn’t look as though it had been cleaned in days.
Flies EVERYWHERE inside and outside.
Also unpleasant experience with the masseuse - do not recommend signing up for a massage.

Wonderful stay

A big albergue just outside of the main square and the cathedral. Quiet place spacious courtyard, we were only two in our little bedroom without doors. Shower is good. You can cook in the kitchen or go to a local cafe just two minutes walk across the river. It was very clean and efficient check in process. Nice stay for 8€

Basic but adequate

For 8€, it worked, a bed and a shower. There were 34 bunks in the room (that's a total of 34 beds, not double that). The showers had hot water. There were only two toilet stalls, but it seemed to work. I only had to wait once. There were no meals, but I picked up some tapas and glass of wine at a local bar for less than 6€.
It was a bit stuffy in the room overnight, but I'd rather be warm than cold, so it worked for me.

Not bad

Very clean. The check in was a little slow but it was organized. There was a nice sitting area outside while you waited. The staff were friendly and helpful. Not much space between the beds, about a foot and a half

Basic

2 ladies showers for a large group of rooms. Minimal areas to charge my phone. Kitchen closed due to Covid.

This is only my opinion and

This is only my opinion and experience.
When I arrived at 2pm there were heaps of pilgrims sitting outside “waiting” to go inside. The couple running it were lovely people, but perhaps a little unorganised !!! They handed out papers if you saw them or you found them, which was very confusing and annoying - no orderly line, no numbers on slips. So waited for about an hour - for a simple check in process which is just paying and stamping your passport - should take about 3mins?? They were moving at a very slow pace - so after a hard long day walking it was very frustrating! That was the cons. PROS: it had s lovely pilgrim community vibe, a kitchen, a porch, place to hang clothes out in sun, a vending machine with cold beer and anything a pilgrim could need inside.
Kitchen closed at 9pm so if you went to mass you needed to cook before really.
Phone charging is outside dorm room and limited. One big room, but earplugs and mask and it’s all good!

Very basic municipal. About

Very basic municipal. About 30 people in one room, not many places to charge your phone. Some people had things stolen while we were here. Kitchen is good and lots of space to dry clothes in the sun.

I have stayed here on 3

I have stayed here on 3 Camino’s and I love the beer vending machine in the kitchen. It’s nice to grab a beer and take a hot shower. Also a area to wash your clothes by hand and Calliger Hand Crank ‘squeegee’ for you Youngblood’s go ahead and google that so you know how to use it, it helps your laundry get the water out to dry quicker. Kitchen is small but has lots of pans and utensils. It’s satisfying. I like this place.

I stayed here in June 2015.

I stayed here in June 2015. It is run by the Flemish Association and they couldn't have be more welcoming. It's a simple place, but clean and does what it needs to. The local kids hang out the front of the Albergue at night and can sometimes be a bit cheeky/noisy, but I'd definitely stay here again.
