Top Tier Hostal! Excellent!

Crossed the awesome bridge into Hospital de Orbigo and Hostal Don Suero de Quinones is first building on left. 85 euros for a private room. Walked in without booking at 1600 and got the last room. Super nice room with air conditioning. Has power window shades! Hostal even has an elevator. Ate dinner here on the balcony overlooking the bridge and river. Not a pilgrim menu, but a proper menu, supposedly the nicest restaurant in town. After our 39k day it was nice to have a good meal without going out. About a kilometer walk to a market. One of the nicest places we stayed in our 42 days on Camino.

Great stop for Camino for a hotel

This is the first hotel on the left after crossing the bridge. Opened at 1:30. Hotel has a restaurant on site with both bar food and regular meals. This is a small family operated establishment with the grandfather doing check in, daughter chef and grandson restaurant helper. Lovely room that had a balcony overlooking the bridge. Breakfast is a la carte and basic.
There is a bus here that can shorten your distance to Astorga . I did this and stopped in San Jan de la Vega for an easier 3 mile walk in. Bus stop is along the main highway with a bus kiosk and across from the petrol station. Alsa is the bus line.

Wonderful room, meal, and hosts!

I got a room at this wonderful host style and also took a meal in the beautiful dining room overlooking the bridge. Meal was delicious and the folks who worked there were incredibly kind and welcoming. Highly recommend!
