Wonderful hosts, clean facilities, blankets and towels available for rent, huge yard (with trees, tables, chairs), cool decor. The bunks are metal but incredibly solid and each has its own outlet. Carmina doubles as a local bar and restaurant so guests are still here for a little while but not obscenely late.
The food is definitely a highlight- they have the best burgers I’ve ever had - and I’m from America! There are vegetarian and gluten-free options. (They also have milkshakes and smoothies but I didn’t have one. If burgers and breakfast are anything to go by, they’re probably amazing).
Breakfast was well above average. For €6 you get a hot beverage, a small glass of orange juice, three slices of a crusty, lovely bread (w option of oil/tomato or butter/jam) with a hard boiled egg and slice of sweet cake. Just enough to get a pilgrim going.
They do have a small dog but I barely got a chance to meet him - a total sweetie-pie. But I know some people are afraid of dogs so not to worry, it’s not on the dorm proper.
Highly recommend Carmina Hostel!

Laura and Sarah, all of the family are wonderful. Very hospitable. It is true the Albergue opens “sharply” at 3pm, but there is a gas station bar restaurant up the street where i sat with my diary for about an hour.
The grounds are great for hanging out and chilling in the afternoon. Memory foam mattresses - nice. Very clean. They have a working bar, and the dinner (a must!)
If you are craving hamburger, best one I’ve had in Spain. Rivals a Colorado burger!
Breakfast worth it, but at 7:30am … it means a little later start if you’re an early bird, but hard boiled eggs, toast (good baked bread), OJ, and coffee of choice (like barista)
I love this place! If you stop in this town, stay here.
Oh, one last thing - any negative reviews are just plain ridiculous. And, the dog is a sweetheart, very gentle and friendly.
Buen Camino

Good welcome, clean and well-maintained hostel. However, you have to pay 1 euro for a blanket but the temperature is good and it is therefore not necessary. It is possible to dine on site. There is a variety of hamburgers.

This place has a lovely energy about it, the staff are friendly, amenities are clean. A great little bar and area to chill, the garden area is amazing.
It's modern, it does breakfast and dinner, I'm not sure about the other negative reviews because it's one of the nicest I've stayed at.

I can’t really relate to the bad reviews. I stayed here in April, everybody was friendly, the garden was nice and we had an awesome dinner, the veggie burger was delicious! I enjoyed my stay here a lot.

I can see what people mean by unfriendliness. I should have changed my mind when I read their cocky answers to reviews on google maps. Discrimination with spanish people, or people who speak spanish. I arrived at the same time with some spanish people but they let them in to leave their bags inside and they just ignored me. And there is a god damn pitbull. Oh gosh, what have I done.

We splurged for the private room. It was a little more expensive than other places with private rooms but was really nice! The bathroom was updated as well and everything was super clean! The meals were pretty basic but the staff were exceptionally nice to talk with!

We stayed at this Albergue last night and it was not worth it. Was to expensive for what it offered. Disposable sheets and no blankets. Had to pay extra for breakfast in the morning. They also don’t have a working kitchen. This hostel is also a restaurant and bar and the bunk room is right next to the main restaurant. It was loud and noisy till 11:30pm making it impossible to fall asleep. I have to say the host was super lovely and the garden is nice. Had dinner at the restaurant here and that was incredible but so so so expensive. Drinks are also overpriced. Wouldn’t recommend this place unless you stay in a private room maybe. Had better nights with dinner and breakfast included for cheaper.

I didn’t like the hostel. First it opened at 3:00 pm pronto and not a minute earlier. You have to pay extra for a blanket, a lock, and you cannot use the washing machine: for 5 euros the hostess will wash your laundry (when she is ready) and you need to hang it outside provided the sun still shines. There is no kitchen facilities and the food is quite expensive to buy! So I wouldn’t stay here again!

One of the best places I’ve stayed at so far on the Norte. Do enjoy the hammocks in the garden! Keep in mind that check-in opens at 15.00.

Everything a pilgrim needs at the end of a tough day. The staff are exceptionally helpful.

Words cannot describe. A lovely place to stay. Supermarket, restaurants and bars close by. No meal on offer when I arrived mid week but that did not diminish my experience of staying here. Great hosts.

Don’t miss this place, it’s The nicest! So beautiful, I had a gourgeos private room for 35 €. Good food and the kindest staff

The family is so kind and friendly and helpful. I love the palm trees and the Sequoia trees. The yard is a beautiful setting to just be. The feeling here is warm and very peaceful. The albergue is very clean, nice bathrooms. Dormitory is clean, airy with a reading lamp and outlets by every bed.
The cappuccino was great. There’s a teepee available and also an horreo. The food was excellent also.
2. September 2019 - 20:52
This hostel was such a treat. 14€ for a single bed in a shared room, 10€ pilgrim’s menu including most ingredients grown either on site (!!) or right down the street (delicious), and the most hospitable staff.
20. July 2019 - 19:25
Beautiful place. They also have a wonderful converted Horreo, so comfortable and the best meal on the Norte
13. July 2019 - 1:50
It's what all the previous comments stated. The hospitality is of a high level. This Albergue is a must if you are doing the Camino Del Norte and a great place to take a early break and rest well.
7. July 2019 - 20:23
This albergue, if you can call it that!!, was so incredible. As previously stated, there are outlets by the beds, night lights by the beds, windows that open nearby, and it was not arranged in a cramped way! You can purchase a peregrino meal, all prepared with fresh, local ingredients, and breakfast in the morning, too. The entire place is hip, modern, and very well-decorated. I couldn’t recommend this place more!

Super clean & beautiful albergue. Pilgrim meal is 10€/person. Delicious food.

Stopped here and was welcomed by Carla, very helpful and turned out to be the cook. Had best meal of trip so far. All were extremely helpful and concerned that you were taken care of. Highly recommend using this albergue.
