Uphill

This albergue is uphill. Only reserve it (10 €) if you want to finish the hill in the evening. We think love was probably in there when the grandma was still doing it. The love seems to be vanishing now. With 30 € it‘s overpriced but ok

Lovely stay

This was a lovely albergue and fostered a really great community vibe. Dinner was fantastic with salad and chicken. There is ample outdoor area and garden so you don’t feel suffocated by so many people. Separate men and women dorms and the bathrooms were clean. They run a very well organized albergue and we are very thankful!!

A good place

Definitely make the effort to go past Deba this is a great place to stay - good dinner and a nice quiet sleep.

Izarbide Albergue super recommended!

I highly recommend making the extra effort and escape from Dena to get here.
The owner is nice and friendly and the entire staff creates a relaxed happy atmosphere.
The services are good, food is basic and portions are big. Surrounded by garden, forest and nature it’s a relaxing place to stay.

Super, n'hésitez pas

For me it's one of the best hostels. Dorm and bathrooms for women and others for men. Comfortable, nice dinner

Great place

Had a wonderful time here! Friendly and helpful hosts, hot showers, sheets and blankets on the bed. Dinner was filling, and the packed breakfast was extensive enough I was able to use it as a lunch as well.

Stay here!

Great albuerge with beautiful outdoor area and nice dinner. I did not book in advance and they had room, but the owner recommended doing so by WhatsApp when possible. Most others had.

Nicest people !

I don’t understand some of the comments about this albergue because I spent an amazing time there, the host was so nice ! He saw that I was sunburned and even brought me some after sun cream ! The check in procedure was not long like other comments say but it was just normal like «put your bag and shoes in locker then take only the things you need with you. » The only reason why it might get noisy is just related to the other pilgrims who will be with you. If you want to stop there, don’t hesitate !

Quite strict staff but rather okay

As described in this thread quite a procedure at check in.
But it was a rather comfortable stay.

If you can avoid it, do so

Albergue is not very clean, smells weird and not very welcoming. Although if you are very tied, don’t have a better option , it will provide you with a clean bed and ok dinner with vegetarian option as well. So not cozy, basic but acceptable

Paradise for pilgrim

After a steep hike up from Deba you'll arrive in a little paradise. Pure nature up here with great beds, good showers and the best hosts ever!!! The communal dinner was just perfect and a loooot. Including their own wine! That was a true pilgrim experience

17. April 2024 - 21:20

Real pilgrim experience

Well organized albergue with two big dorms, separated in woman and man. Dinner is family style dinner, delicious and plenty. We all sat together and shared stories. The fire place is nice but the whole albergue very cold. Beds have sheets and enough blanktes.
Coffee machine was not working in the morning and the staff wasn’t there.

Friendly host and impressive meal

Host was welcoming upon arrival and quick to explain their facilities and system. Lockers for packs and basket for bedside gear works well. The meal was generous in volume and very tasty. The packed breakfast is also a good offering - fresh fruit, juice, and breads.

Albergue Izarbide

The dinner was wonderful.
Unfortunately my sheets were dirty.

Good place to stay :)

15€ per person, washer and spinner for laundry available and you can get dinner and breakfast.
You get a locker for your bag and take only the stuff you need in a box to your bed :)

14. April 2023 - 16:08

good food - very clean

This was a very clean place. It had separate dorms for men and women - couples could choose to sleep in either. The food was very good and we met some nice pilgrims there!

Very noisi

Just spent night there. I have been several times also in other similar places but not seen before such unpolite crowds. Really a lot of noice (no peace at night time), one heavily sick person cought all night really badly. Completely not clear why people in such condition come to common sleap areas. One US family lived in their time zone without caring others etc. This all in not obvously fault of alberque, but just people who visited it. But such places can only exist if there is at least some respect to each other.

Overall nice rural albergue

A true tin roof albergue with nothing around except an Italian restaurant 5 minutes away (€15 pilgrim dinner there was very good), a variety of nice seating areas with great views, and is a bar during the day. Has an outdoor wash basin + free spin dryer, and lockers. Glad I walked the extra 5 km here instead of staying in Deba

Nice Albergue

Decent place to stay. Facilities are nice and clean. I have not tried dinner, and breakfast was not an option when I stayed. Thr night cost 15 euros. They have a bar where you can buy snacks and beverages.
