Pilgrims on the road and friends along the way send me changes every day, and they go out the same day. The Camino del Norte app carries all of it offline, and it's still being built — new features arrive routinely.

we fled

We arrived around 2:00 PM on a Sunday, everything was dirty, the hostel was open, the key was in the door, trash bins were not emptied, a sweater was lying around (presumably forgotten), and there were still bedsheets from previous guests on the beds. We sat on the small terrace and enjoyed the view. Later another pilgrim arrived and had discovered bed bugs (according to Google). We got all our money back and walked another 7 km. Absolutely not recommended.

Quiet & did the Job

I checked in at the bar super late (after 9pm) and was given bedding, all very easy. Walked across to the albergue and it was super empty, 1 other women in one corner and a guy in the room at the back.
Yeah it’s basic but it was enough, especially for €6, the shower had hot water, there was toilet paper, and loads of kitchen roll. The shower doors are a little dodgy but they just about work, and yeah it needs a clean. But honestly it was fine for what I needed.
The bar down the road was nice; it’s not really a pilgrim place, more an upmarket local Spanish place and the prices reflect that, everyone else was slightly smarter dressed than me but they didn’t mind me being grubby! I enjoyed the food & drinks there, not Camino cheap, but good quality.

Escamplero municipal alburgue.

It is clean, it seems there's a hospitalero now or there was today. The price can't be beat. Would recommend to anyone.

Rural Municipal Alburgue

Found the bunks comfortable, warm blanks, heaters on site, dishes, one pot, showers, NO Laundry. Stop at the store on your way to albergue if you want anything to eat or drink. Fridge, range top, microwave available.

Not for the faint hearted

We arrived on Tuesday so the restaurant was closed. Consequently we could not get a mattress cover. The mattress was far from clean. The shop is limited so food was in short supply. This was my 8 Camino and this Albergue ranks as one of the worst I have experienced. Buy hey for €6 what do you expect!

Ask for the key in the restaurant

It is a quite self-management place.
The first arrived have to look for the key to the restaurant 100m before.

23. September 2025 - 20:55

Well adapted for hiking !

Rustik but quite clean for hiking and pilgrim.

Pay 6€ and receive sheet in the restaurant before arriving.
For diner and breakfast you can buy some simple things in the small shop and use the simple kitchen. Or diner with a dish around 17€ in the restaurant.

Skip this one if you can

If you have to stop here, its a bed for the night. One shower had hot water, the others did not. It was pretty dirty and not well maintained. It was our first stop and far and away the worst place we stayed.

Does the job. Good place to meet new pilgrims.

Simple albergue with beds both up and downstairs. 6€ includes new disposable sheets. Shower downstairs clogs but not the 2 upstairs. Microwave not working but stove effective. Many pilgrims cooked and shared food. There were cards to play games and get to know first day pilgrims. Views are beautiful. Lack of amenities make it easy to make friends.

I would recommend

Really good price for 6 euros. The cheapest place i stayed on the camino. You have to go to the restaurant up the road to check in before you go to the hostel. Kitchen, bathroom and beds clean. Lockers avail. Unfortunately the shower does clog so after 5 mins there's a pool of water. Kitchen has all utensils, including working microwave and fridge. Working power sockets. There's fleece blankets. Small but lovely eating area and outdoor area. Only 3 ppl stayed here including me yesterday night.

No to be recommended

Having been on the Camino eight times I can honestly say this is in my top 3 worst albergues. I don’t want to think about the beds and what might live there. Skip if at all possible. The nearby shop is not well stocked and hygiene is not a top priority.

Don't eat at the restaurant for dinner

When asked if they had a pilgrim menu, they said "we have dinner at 7". No pilgrim menu. We ordered the cheapest things on the menu, at 11 and 12 Euros. They charged 5 Euros for the 4 slices of bread they brought to the table. I've never been charged for the bread they bring to the table in my life. They also brought bottled water, already opened, and tried to embarass us into buying dessert. For a meal that should have cost 10, we paid 33. If you're on a budget or just generally against highway robbery, avoid this place. It seems like a place to trick pilgrims into spending money

No Hot Water

Stayed today 27/5 and there is no hot water. The price is €6 and the restaurant where you get the keys is 300m before the albergue.

4. May 2024 - 18:14

Not clean

It's okay, bed was comfortable, the shower drainage had not been cleaned for a long while, which meant the water overflowed onto the floor. The place just had a grubby/uncared for feel to it. I was dreading the rest of the Albergues, as this was my first, however they have all been much better.

8. July 2022 - 13:30

Great!

There are almost 30 beds, 3 bathrooms with showers, the bathroom farthest away from the entrance door doesn't close, but besides that everything is great. People at the restaurant we're very helpful and the food was very good!

8. July 2022 - 12:15

Excellent!

There were around 26 beds and 3 bathrooms. It wasn't very full. People at the restaurant were extremely friendly and helpful. They are closed on Wednesdays, so you have to stop at the tiendita (yellow building) meat store that day. There wasn't a great place for us to fill our water bottles, so buy one there or bring an extra.

Forgot to mention. A little crowded and no lock on the toilet/shower rooms. Could use some staples like sugar/azucar. You are given a bedsheet and pillowcase when you check in and blankets are provided.
