Camino De San Salvador app

Pilgrims on the road and friends along the way send me changes every day, and they go out the same day. The Camino De San Salvador app carries all of it offline, and it's still being built — new features arrive routinely.

San Francisco de Asis

The receptionist was very good, helpful and smiling, it was decent... 1 shower, 1 toilet for 8..🤔🤷

Dated but comfortable rooms

The dining room downstairs appears to have been more recently renovated than the dormitories upstairs. My room had three bunk beds that shared an en suite bathroom. The guy at the desk was not very welcoming, in stark contrast to the kind and friendly Franciscan brothers whose convent is attached to the albergue. It is located off the Camino in a quieter part of town than places nearer to the Cathedral so if you are looking to party, this may not be the best place

Nice Albergue with super clean and comfortable rooms. Brother Federico gave a tour of the grounds and mass is at 7:30 pm on Sundays. Dinner and breakfast are also available.

The Albergue was quiet, clean and the clerk at check in was friendly and informative. Dinner and breakfast options are available. Would stay here again.

Perfect Albergue

While not as personal as some, facilities are great
Would happily come again, be it meals, washing or beds, excellent prices.. very clean.

Guy at reception has an attitude problem

Beds were comfortable. Water was hot. No hand soap in any of the bathrooms and when I pointed it out they said someone would come change the soap but it never happened and I stayed two nights. Did not enjoy my interaction with the guy who checked me in. Not what I needed after walking all day and the

A ‘PS’ to the post below :-)

I’ve just spoken to the guy on reception, who has been working since 7am this morning and will finish his shift at 12 midnight. I think it’s understandable that he may feel a bit fed up with pilgrims at times…<3

Kitchen where you can cook for yourself…

I’ve spent two nights here and it’s an Albergue that provides almost everything a pilgrim could want, for a fantastic price in León (where everything seems to be more expensive).
The guy on reception is OK but has a fixed view of how pilgrims should behave and, from my experience, can be abrupt and unfriendly if you don’t comply with that view.
I dined and breakfasted in the canteen restaurant on the first evening and morning (9€ & 3€), which was good value and the food was plentiful and tasty. They change the menu every day and seem to serve a choice of things which also include salad and yogurt or fruit.
On day 2 I discovered that there’s a small dining room and kitchen in the basement, with microwave, small fridge, two cooler hobs of 4 rings each and enough pots and crockery for several people to use simultaneously, so you can buy food and cook for yourself. It seems to be Albergue policy not to tell pilgrims this, as I didn’t meet anyone who had been told, all had found out for themselves by talking to other pilgrims.
The dining room (3 small tables and 13 chairs in all, with microwave & fridge) is open all the time, if you want somewhere to sit & write, plan your route or eat your own breakfast. The kitchen is open to cook in from 10am to 22.30.
It’s a well equipped Albergue in my view (no hand washing of clothes, only machine option available) just a little impersonal…but great value for money.

Albergue bed 12€ today

Phoned today and made a reservation for 20th of September in the Albergue and was told the price would be 12€. Nice surprise and great price for León :-)

Very clean

I arrived yesterday and stayed in a private room with private bath. My shower was warm and blissful and the room was remarkably clean as was the bed.

May 31 2024 - One Night

Breakfast 3€ - OJ, Cafe con leche, Two toasted pieces of bread with ham and queso. Butter. Jam. Empanada. And pick two of the following : small croissant, mini muffin, breakfast cake, mini toasts. Not a buffet. Pay at check in and get a ticket or pay when you get to end of food service line.

Dinner 9€ - meh. Roommates didn’t like it very much. I went somewhere else.

Church tour was great 530 in the lobby.

Beds are squeaky. But you only have 6 to a room with your own bathroom.

Man doing checking during the day is a pleasure. The switch at 4 pm to the second man is not the greatest. He is mostly rude.

Secure bike storage with a code.

Decent location.

Although this is for pilgrims only young adults get credentials to stay here while in Leon. Not a major issue. Closing time of hostel is midnight.

Coffe vending machine in the lobby and a canned drink vending machine. They give you safety sheet and pillow case on check-in.

Would stay again.

Unbelievably rude staff.

My wife was excited to get a stamp from a place named after St Francis, was admonished by the staff for it instead. They seem to only care about the money and not the spirit of the Camino.

13. May 2024 - 15:10

40 euros for private room

Update: I was just quoted $40 for a private room for one night in August. Currently this app says it's 30, so just wanted to let folks know.

9. May 2024 - 15:57

Great place for a rest day!

I had a planned rest day for Leon. The San Francisco de Asis allowed me to hire a private room for 2 nights. The room was clean and had its own bathroom. There was soap and nice towels provided. The only meal I had was breakfast, which was ok, considering it was only €3.

29. April 2024 - 16:13

Good place to stay

I had a private room which is nothing to special, a basic dorm room, BUT what made it so wonderful was the monk that was there to greet pilgrims. He led a tour of the connecting church and monastery courtyard at 5:30 and I highly recommend you to take it. Also, the pilgrim lunch was great!

June 2023

This was a lovely place to stay, very big with lots of rooms. breakfast 3e was basic but good for me the reception waited for me to arrive which was close to 7pm. Very friendly. Attached to the church- father gives tour at 5:30pm and that was great as well.
Very nice bathrooms, good size kitchen if you want to cook. Small fridge to keep things considering the size of the building. I would stay here again.

18. April 2023 - 12:48

First night in Léon!

Got a private room here and glad I did. Very comfortable, quiet and clean. Food in cafeteria was decent and the price is right at 9€ for lunch /supper. Close to everything!

A very pleasant stay, despite the Covid restrictions. Food was ok as well.

11. September 2020 - 17:41

We stayed here in August 2020

We stayed here in August 2020 on the first night of our Camino. They sold credentials so it was handy. The place was clean and quite- we’d recommend it to other pilgrims.
