Pilgrims on the road and friends along the way send me changes every day, and they go out the same day. The Camino de Invierno app carries all of it offline, and it's still being built — new features arrive routinely.

There are a lot of pilgrims here. The dinner was relatively acceptable, nothing special. However, it was nice to meet pilgrims during dinner and breakfast, it is a nice oportunity to socialise

Stayed here on 31st Aug. Volunteers were really friendly and helpful. Bed was comfortable and felt private even though each section had 4 beds. Clean and organized. Didn't book in advance and had available bed. Pilgrim mass was special.

Outstanding historic bunk accommodations. This is what the Camino is all about. I loved staying here. Met lots of folks we kept running into. Book very early, like 6 months out or more! Ask for your bunk to be away from the bathrooms. Volunteers were great. Laundry capability was great. I am 66 years old.

I'm now 4 weeks further down the camino, and looking back, this place is one of the worst. It's function is to house hundreds of pilgrims that it performs very efficiently. My advice is to push on.....your welcome!

I like the 4-bed cubicles, which give you the feel of privacy even in a large dormitory. Laundry system in the lower level is efficient. There is a ticket system if you opt for the pilgrim meal, which may give you a chance to get to know some pilgrims you haven’t met yet, as you get divided across 3 different restaurants. The check-in process was quick and efficient, if not particularly warm or friendly.

We had a reservation and QR codes but checking in seemed more complicated than it needed to be. A bit more information at the time of checking in would have been helpful as we were constantly asking questions. It was clean and comfortable but it was noisy at night and we had a light shining in our eyes all night. I’m glad we stayed there but would go further next time.

Check in was really unpleasant. I am grateful for the time the volunteers give but the attitude was really not nice. A lot of shouting at those who had not got a QR code. It is busy and there are a lot of people but it was just not friendly or welcoming when most srriving are very tired. Top bunks are not easy to get into if you are older. MUST book dinner or you can find yourself with nothing to eat other than vending machines.Dinner was fine nice fish or chicken and a good chance to meet fellow pilgrims. First floor was too cold to sleep. No blankets available, told abruptly that they were unhygienic. A few small changes could make it a much more pleasant stay the building is very nice

I was so lucky to be assigned a bed on the third floor. You can’t book them.
We called it the penthouse. All single beds but still in a cubicle. Clean, calm - nice showers.
Amazing old building totally renovated.
And then you are meeting again all the people you met walking up that mountain.
23. April 2026 - 16:29
Huge old building but renovated interior, including bathrooms, also has a lift and a laundry. Run by Dutch volunteers. There are probably enough beds to not NEED a booking but I'd still recommend, the check in process is a lot smoother if you have pre booked. Beds are two bunk beds to a cubicle, the power plug in my "room" was dodgy so my phone didn't charge right. Pretty good value for what it is. Breakfast sells out so make sure you order that when you book

It is 15€ plus 7€ VAT each.
The people (whom I believe are volunteers) working here were lovely.
The donkey service was easy to access - the albergue basically sets it up for you, just write on the form and put in the money (which is only 7€ per bag.)
The beds are in bunks of 2 to a cube, sleeping 4 people per cubical. We were given a disposable bed sheet for the mattress, a pillow and a disposable pillow cover as well. You will need your own blankets, however I only have a sleeping bag liner which was warm enough with long sleeves on. The bed was reasonably comfortable, and I had a decent night sleep after a very long day.
I didn’t opt in for the pilgrims dinner menu because I do not eat fish, so I cannot comment on that unfortunately. However, the breakfast menu looked nice, I just don’t eat that early and made my own provisions at the supermercado in the next town.
There are 3 restaurants in the town open for dinner service after 1900. My recommendation would definitely be to book in advance! If you’re staying in Roncesvalles, you NEED to have dinner reservations booked or you might struggle to find food after a long hard days walk, when all you want to do is eat, shower, and sleep. There are only three dinner restaurant options, at the other accomodations from the pilgrim refugio, no supermercado or anything like that, and it was very hard to just walk in and find some food anywhere. Check out Google and find a menu you like, and book your dinner alongside your accomodation before you arrive. Buen Camino! All the best everyone :) hope this helps!

good warm room with 6 stock beds, 12 € only, Pilgrims menu (14€) and breakfest (6€) in this time of the year in Casa Sabina

We weren’t sure we were going to leave Roncesvalles today. So yesterday we went to the monastery to ask if we could stay on our way back from SJPdP to Santiago and Santiago to SJPdP and were told the monastery is only for pilgrims going to Santiago de Compostela. And we said well we went to Santiago and now are at the end of our journey and want to stay tomorrow. No was the answer it’s only for pilgrims. My definition of a pilgrimage is a journey of thoughtful intention with an unknown outcome.
21. September 2025 - 16:13
Very clean and organized. You don’t feel like you’re in a place with 200 beds. Laundry facility is excellent. Make sure you have an eye mask and ear plugs.
13. September 2025 - 13:10
You can book this albergue online in advance and I highly recommend it.
The check in takes some time. The Dutch volunteer Hospitaleros are efficient and nice.
The beds are very clean and verkaufe the Bunk beds are arranged in like cubicles of 4 beds it does not feel like you share a dorm with 80 people.
The pilgrims mass was a nice experience.
They have a washing service and a hand wash station with a manual dryer that you can use for free.
Dinner was ok but not great.
Breakfast was nice with cake, toast, cheese and ham, orange juice and jam

My 2.nd time here. Recommended
17. August 2025 - 20:45
A great place to stay. It wasn’t full so plenty of quiet time. The Hospitaleros couldn’t do enough for you especially the laundry volunteers. Nothing is too much for all of them in helping you. 2nd time I stayed there and it’s a really nice experience. Waking up to music at 6:00am was lovely too.
23. May 2025 - 10:44
The woman who checked us in was the most uncaring and inhospitable Hospitalera - completely inflexible and unwelcoming. No sympathy for people on the verge of hypothermia. She’s in the wrong job. Laundry service was amazing and food ok.You need a good breakfast to fortify you for the slippery and dangerous descent into Zubiri. Don’t believe the km signs. When it is wet and muddy the last section is scary.
7. May 2025 - 8:23
The Dutch volunteers are excellent.
Check-in, however, can be disorganised chaos when it’s busy — with seven people managing the queue and only one person doing the actual check-in.
That said, once you’re checked in, everything is great. It’s very comfortable.
Note that blankets are no longer provided, but sleeping bags and blankets are available for purchase. If you look it up, you’ll see that more and more albergues are phasing out blanket provision.
Dinner and breakfast were good — typical pilgrim food and very social — but be aware that the dining location is quite a distance from the albergue.
27. April 2025 - 13:27
We waited for an hour to check in and people after us had to wait 2 hours! very disorganised though the volunteer hospitaleros were v helpful. Otherwise fine - ask for 3rd floor if possible as no bunk beds so much more space.

Just don’t understand the appeal of this place after two negative experiences. Very controlling in a weird way. No warmth to how they operate. Maybe they should focus on a smaller experience for the guests? 14€ for bed, 7€ laundry, also offer takeaway snack for next day, and dinner at fixed times at local places which may leave you unable to attend pilgrim’s mass :/. Incredibly difficult to climb those bunk ladders with seemingly no consideration given to age of guest. Reasonably clean, beds are comfy.
