This review is in comparison to other municipals or xuntas or donativos we stayed in. Not complaining for 8 euros, but they are not keeping up with the others. It was clean, bathrooms and showers were functional, but very dated and worn. Charging was antiquated. Only place we stayed at that still had USB-A’s at the bunks. Which no one carries anymore. Hardly any plugs, lot of competition for charging outlets, needs to be updated. Volunteers were great, given ice water at check in. It is a historic building. One of the oldest still in use for pilgrims. Awesome location over old bridge and on the river. I sat by the river and soaked my feet and ankles. Because of the history we would definitely stay here again. Is what it is.

This albergue felt like summer camp to me in the best way. Rustic and charming. The facilities are tidy if a little dated, but the bunks are sturdy and have lights with charging plugs built in. The showers are in separate open pavilions that give it an outdoor feel. I especially loved the history of it being a pilgrim hospital for centuries before. Definitely stay here!

Do not miss stopping at this extraordinary spot. Set your feet down in the river, lie in the sun in the garden. This is a lovely, lovely place.

Properly fantastic. Beautiful 500 year old alburgue run by kind and helpful volunteers. Fridge oven microwave and stove but no pots. Lovely big stone hall, very good showers. Sit in courtyard watching pilgrims cross the Roman bridge and swim in the river (recommended!)

We were warmly greeted on a rainy day by American volunteers. The beds are the standard metal frames with disposable sheets. There are “cubicle” walls between the beds. I wish we had been there on a warm day to enjoy the river! Restaurant next door has a pilgrim meal and other selections which were fine. It opened at 7am for coffee! One odd thing was that the Albugue does not have cups for tea or any other dishes. A good value at 10 euros.

Totally different restaurant experience than the previous poster. Food was great and the choices were many. Waiters were very friendly and attentive.

Great Municipal Albergue. Clean, hot showers, laundry, kitchen. Friendly knowledgeable staff And volunteers. The restaurant next door is the only game in town and they know it. Slow service and staff is not at all friendly. Food is mediocre.

Beautiful, clean, simple. Private lights and usb charger in each bunk. Situated next to a lovely river.

Beautiful, clean, simple, traditional albergue with lots of history and grounds that roll down to the river (and steps into it, so you can easily paddle and bathe on hot days!)
Solid bunks, separate shower block (but toilets and sinks near to dorms), plenty of lines to hang washing, kitchen and dining room.
Loved it, with good cafe/bar within metres, serving tasty pilgrim menu for 12€ and open for breakfast from 7am.
If you want to avoid the hustle and bustle of Arzúa, this is the stop (just a few kms before) for you :-).

You can put your tent in the garden and use all the facilities for €8.
Warm water is just warm enough.
They have laundry and dryer machines.
Just around the corner is plenty of food eat in the Resto.

Staff are friendly. Facilities are pretty basic but shower buttons don’t let the showers go on for very long. Bunk beads. Standard value for 6 euros.
